Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Therapeutic Radiographer to provide clinical expertise and leadership to the Radiotherapy workforce at our Southampton Site. You will work alongside the Radiotherapy Management Team and existing clinical specialists in order to ensure the effective running of the radiotherapy linacs and provide excellent training facilities to other radiographers.

You will need to have an extensive level of radiotherapy experience, have excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills and be able to prioritise work effectively, providing guidance and support to the wider Radiotherapy Team.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the operational delivery of the linacs you are responsible for, ensuring a smooth pathway for patients from referral to end of treatment. You will work very closely with other clinical specialists, operational managers and site specific advanced practitioners in delivering care to our patients. You will be required to use your expertise and skills in supporting radiographers and will have a say on the operational delivery matters.

As a clinical expert, you will provide advice and guidance on all clinical matters, able to trouble shoot on the linacs and support other multi-disciplinary team. You are also expected to maintain a high standard of care, conduct and be a role model for other staff within the department.

You will also have HR responsibilities, including sickness management, for the staff that you line manage.

You will be approachable and passionate about the service we deliver for our patients.

Through your excellent and well developed technical and people management skills you will have the confidence to embrace the many challenges which we face on a daily basis and to support and empower more junior staff to own and resolve their local issues professionally and safely.

You will know when to escalate issues, either within the Radiotherapy team, or within the wider multi-disciplinary teams

Qualifications / Training Required

Essential criteria

  • Masters degree or module / equivalence
  • Degree in Therapeutic Radiography / Diploma of College of Radiographers with specialist experience and courses.
  • HCPC Registration
  • Change management and implementation skills

Desirable criteria

  • Working toward SoR Accreditation
  • Understanding of wider cancer agenda and NHS commissioning structure
  • Project management/educational experience/ MSc

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential criteria

  • Ability to lead and manage treatment delivery teams
  • Evidence of working at a senior level within a Radiotherapy Department
  • Knowledge / Experience of modern Radiotherapy
  • Practice and latest technological advances

Desirable criteria
