HGV Driver (RoRo)

Purpose Of The Role

To drive/operate roll-on-off and other specialist vehicles, fixed/mobile plant and equipment.

To assist in other general site operations, to carry out daily maintenance of vehicles, mobile plant and equipment and to perform general housekeeping duties at Refuse Transfer Stations and Household Refuse Recycling Centres (HRRC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive specialist LGV Class II vehicles.
  • Operate wheeled loading shovel and other plant and equipment
  • Carry out daily inspections / maintenance of vehicles / mobile plant and other equipment carrying out adjustments as required.
  • Carry out general housekeeping of site grounds and buildings.
  • Actively participate in full range of recycling activities / initiatives.
  • Act as a Household Refuse Recycling Centre Attendant.

Essential Requirements For The Role

  • LGV class 2 licence
  • Current CPC
  • Ability to gain CITB Certification or equivalent on Wheeled Loading Shovel
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to drive / operate a range of vehicles, fixed / mobile plant and equipment
  • Prepared to work outside of normal hours to maintain the service
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to change roles to meet operational requirements
  • Good team member
  • Good communication skills when dealing with problems
