About the role: HE Study Support Teacher

The HE Study Support Team are part of Group Learning Support, and they offer an inclusive support service to all HE students, whether studying in person or online.

Our Learning Support teams work on every campus to support, help and teach learners, including apprentices and HE students, to develop effective study and personal skills so that they can make progress on their course, achieve their goals and thrive at college.

We use our Learning Philosophy to help students to become independent and successful learners.

As a Study Support Teacher you will be responsible for the effective preparation, delivery and evaluation of induction workshops, study support lessons, study skills sessions for students, either individually, in small groups or sometimes classes. This may include preparing and delivering training sessions and mentoring staff.

You will also work with faculty staff and other support services to ensure a holistic approach to support.

This is a full time (36 hours a week), permanent contract based at Oxford college

A flexible approach to working hours will be required to ensure support is provided to students and a hybrid approach to both online and face to face delivery.

What do you need to be a successful Study Support Teacher at Activate Learning?

You will have the knowledge and skills to teach students who have a wide range of learning difficulties, disabilities and needs. Knowledge of the Disabled Students’ Allowance process is desirable.

  • You will be an excellent communicator and have a good team-work ethos.
  • Digital literacy and strong administrative skills are essential as HE support can be delivered either in person or online.
  • Qualified teacher and experience of support for Higher Education are essential.
  • You will be able to be adaptable and be willing to react to change quickly and positively.

Knowledge of the Disabled Students’ Allowance process is desirable.

Whilst the job is predominately based at Oxford College, we are open to conversations about your home college base. You may be required to travel to alternative campuses as required.
