We are looking for a Deputy Ward Manager who has a passion and commitment to caring for patients in a low secure setting at The Wells Road Centre. Seacole Ward is a 14 bedded female ward and works with female patients experiencing complex trauma and enduring mental illness. The ward works in collaboration with patients on their recovery and discharge pathways. The Deputy Ward Manager role will be expected to put the 6Cs into practice on a daily basis and have a supportive and considerate nature, to work within a cohesive inter-professional ward team.

You will need to be available to work a flexible 24 hour working pattern on a rotating basis to include nights and weekends.

There will be an expectation with the role that you will cover a Unit Co-ordinator rota as part of your role.

Role Purpose

To function as a key member of the ward management team assisting the Ward Manager to manage operational and clinical day to day activity of a ward requirements.

To actively support the Ward Manager in fulfilling all the Key Result Areas and responsibilities associated with their Clinical/Management role, deputising for the ward manager in their absence.

To support in the running of a twenty-four hour responsibility for the delivery of all ward services including all clinical and security issues

To demonstrate active clinical and managerial leadership skills within the team, providing education and supervision to junior staff members and other professionals to ensure that the highest standards of care are delivered to patients in their care.

Practices which foster and develop multi-disciplinary working will be implemented in all aspects of clinical practice.

This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust and have not been an employee of the Trust in the previous 3 years. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.
