Laboratory Assistant

A proficient laboratory assistant working within the laboratory production environment, contributing towards the day to day delivery of analytical outputs. Operating within a tightly regulated Quality System, whilst satisfying the requirements of customers and regulators undertaking sample preparation and straightforward analytical techniques.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Undertaking sample preparation prior to analysis and contributing to straightforward analytical techniques and analysis.
- In Sample Reception receives registers and distributes samples to analytical teams and undertakes some simple preparation and scheduling activities
- Working across a variety of teams (Analytical and Sample Reception)
- Working to a defined Quality system whilst adhering to tight deadlines with varying sample volumes and complying with the needs of the customer and changing regulatory standards
- Operating within a team environment and supporting activities according to best practice procedures as detailed in the Quality System.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment used to undertake preparation and straightforward analysis tasks.
- Maintenance of own knowledge in line with best practice and changing regulatory standards including Continuing Professional Development.
- Straightforward technical activities to facilitate learning and development.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Previous laboratory experience would be advantageous with a basic understanding of ISO 17025, ISO 5667- part 3 and all other related regulatory requirements.
- Technical Adept with IT systems, tools and databases including Nautilus, TAPS, Word, and Excel.
- Good communication skills and planning and organisations skills.
- Self-motivated to deliver a highly flexible sample preparation and analytical service within a changing environment including flexibility in working hours/practices.

Essential Qualifications
- Knowledge and Skills 5 GCSEs (A-C in Maths, English and Science/technology subject)
Additional Information
This role operates on a full-time basis from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with Saturday shifts required on a rotational schedule.
