Yard groom/rider/instructor

This is an exciting yard groom/rider/instructor opportunity offering a very versatile experience with a large number of horses of all types, ages and uses. Assisting with overall care of all horses and maintaining welfare to a high standard.

Duties will include but not limited to;

• Assisting/observing vet and farrier.
• Mucking out, sweeping
• Tack cleaning
• Assisting with preparation of horses for competition.
• Assisting with handling of youngstock including foals.
• Riding opportunities including backing and breaking.
• Assisting instructors in lessons.
• Instructor training and opportunity to gain qualification in this.
• Communicating with customers.

Desired Skills and Qualities

• Confident rider
• Interest in teaching and riding
• Good communication skills

Desired Qualifications

• GCSE’s, or equivalent in maths and English desired, but not essential.
• If applicants already holds a level 2 in equine a level 3 is available. Must not hold Level 3 or higher in equine.

Future prospects

• Employment within the organisation if a position is available.

Training

• Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom apprenticeship.
• The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
• The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

Things to consider

• Have provided training for numerous apprentices over the years. Previous apprentices have gone on to do the following: Instructors both freelance and employed by us, self-employed livery services, Riding services.
• The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship.
• KEITS reserves the right to close this vacancy earlier than advertised if the need arises.

Job Type: Apprenticeship

Pay: From £7.55 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week

• Monday to Friday
• Weekend availability
