The role of the WLS Supervisor is to report to the WLS Asset Team Lead and oversee a team of mechanical and electrical technicians in executing assigned refurbishment/maintenance, mobilisation or demobilisation tasks on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company policies, procedures, risk assessments, and method statements. The WLS Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient and effective maintenance operations for the WLS assets of the company.
Provides Management of:
- Electrical Technician(s) – (assigned to WLS for a given scope)
- Mechanical Technicians(s) – (assigned to WLS for a given scope)
- Offshore Resources (when working in the yard assisting WLS activities)
- 3rd Party Resources – (when working in the yard)
Key Tasks:
- Manage and lead a team of mechanical and electrical technicians when they are assigned to WLS.
- Provide guidance, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork.
- Conduct performance evaluations and address any performance issues.
- Support control of the work and resources of the Asset Management team at the Gateway facility.Support the Asset Manager and HR for future workforce planning
- Work with Asset Manager and HR to identify training and development plans for staff where required.
Asset Management-
- Ensure optimal utilisation of resources for timely execution of maintenance activities.
- Issue job instruction to the relevant personnel.
- Produce high quality reports and documentation.
- Review technician’s reports and third-party documentation.
- Accurate record keeping of certification and maintenance history.
- Coordinate and prioritise refurbishment/maintenance, rectification, and commissioning tasks for rental assets.
- Monitor asset performance, condition, availability, and reliability.
Quality Management System (QMS) & Continuous Improvement-
- Work in accordance with the MDL QMS
- Monitor compliance with MDL policies, procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimisation.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Support the Asset Team Lead to drive business and process improvements which will drive increased profitability, productivity and quality within MDL.
- Adhere to workflow processes which reflect the actual workflow of the Asset Management function and can be audited.
- Support the Asset Management team working to the implemented processes.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
- Support the process of continuous improvement within the Asset Management function that minimises cost of poor quality
- Support digitalisation within the Asset Management function by working with Business Improvement Manager and WLS Asset Team Lead
External Interfaces (Clients, Suppliers)-
- Maintain effective communication with clients to understand their requirements and address any concerns.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely availability of parts and equipment.
- Foster strong relationships with clients and suppliers to enhance service delivery.
- Support Projects team with client interfaces during equipment client witness commissioning, FATs.Work with SCM and Project Controls Manager to drive supplier relationships and reduce procurement risks (schedule, costs, quality)
Qualifications & Skills:
- +5 Years Winch and lifting equipment experience (Mandatory)
- HNC/D (or equivalent) Engineering Qualification (Preferred)
- Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering or equivalent (Preferred)
- +3Years Supervisory experience (Mandatory)
- Demonstratable Spooling experience
- Hydraulic Trade Discipline background (Preferred)
- Excellent people management skills (Mandatory)
- Able to demonstrate competence in reading and understanding electrical, mechanical or hydraulic drawings (Preferred)
- Able to identify and use technical tools and instruments.
- Be able to undertake inductive/deductive reasoning to allow job successful performance.
- Able to undertake an analysis of the job requirements and coordinate required equipment (Essential)
- Organised and logical approach to work scope planning.
- Understanding of how to operate and work with/around tools & machinery.
- Familiar/ competent in all Microsoft packages including Outlook, Projects, Excel, Word & SharePoint
