Hours per week: Monday – Friday 36.25 hours per week. This role may involve some evening or weekend work.
Holidays: 5.6 weeks pro rata including statutory Bank/Public Holidays.
Purpose Of The Job
Deafway was established for the relief of people who are D/deaf. Firstly for those resident in Lancashire and secondly those resident in the rest of the United Kingdom and elsewhere, in particular by assisting and supporting their equal access to and participation in all aspects of society. - Salary: £12.60 per hour
- 36.25 hours per week (Mon – Fri, 9am – 5pm)
- Has proven experience driving converted vehicles, minibuses or similar vehicles.
- Is a dependable and safety-conscious Driver.
- Possesses excellent driving skills and a clean driving record.
- Good knowledge of local routes and traffic regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Purpose Of The Job
- Provide qualified driver support to Residents with occasional support to the other service users.
- Maintain Deafway vehicles in terms of maintenance and cleanliness.
- Provide general maintenance support across the site.
- Operate two converted cars and a 15-seater minibus to transport passengers to and from designated locations.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers during transit.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any maintenance or safety issues.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the vehicles.
- Plan routes and adhere to schedules and timetables.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including those with mobility needs.
- Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and journey logs.
- Comply with all traffic laws and company safety policies.
- General Maintenance support.
- Ensure confidentiality of information, that meet with GDPR regulations and Deafway policy.
- Assist in promoting and maintaining own and others’ health, safety and security as defined in the Health & Safety Policy and Fire Procedures.
- Work effectively as part of a team and support all colleagues as required.
- Ensure professional conduct observing the Deafway Code of Conduct.
- To support the equality, diversity and rights of residents and staff.
- To act in a way that recognises the importance of people’s rights, interpreting them in a way that is consistent with Deafway procedures and policies, and current legislation.
- To respect the privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of residents and colleagues, behaving in a manner which is non-judgmental.
- Complete any other task(s) as required that relate to the purpose of the job.
- Complete all mandatory training as directed by the Facilities Manager.
- Uphold Deafway’s policies in respect of providing a culturally Deaf service including appropriate communication, to all Deafway’s service users.
