The role 

To act as a subject matter expert for Citrix technologies, supporting the third-line team in delivering a secure, optimised, and scalable Citrix environment. This includes advanced troubleshooting, platform lifecycle management, and active participation in project delivery. The role also involves mentoring junior team members, helping to build team capability, and driving continuous improvement across the End User Computing function.

Key Responsibilities 

As the Ekco Citrix SME you will play a key role in:

  • Acting as a senior technical lead for all Citrix-related services, including CVAD, Citrix Cloud/DaaS, NetScaler/ADC, Citrix WEM, and FSLogix.
  • Providing=ng expert third-line support, troubleshooting complex issues related to user sessions, application delivery, resource locations, and Citrix infrastructure.
  • Maintaining and improving Citrix infrastructure: Delivery Controllers, StoreFront, Citrix Gateway, Cloud Connectors, Licensing Server, and Citrix Director.
  • Managing image lifecycle using PVS and/or MCS, including maintenance versioning, patching, and version promotions.
  • Ensuring compatibility across Citrix components and apply new license keys as part of lifecycle management.
  • Delivering internal training, mentoring, and technical development for second-line engineers and junior colleagues.
  • Promoting a culture of knowledge sharing through documentation, walkthroughs, and structured team sessions.
  • Participating in Citrix platform upgrades.
  • Maintaining secure, optimised configurations aligned with Citrix and Microsoft best practices.
  • Contributing to platform monitoring, capacity planning, and proactive problem resolution.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed documentation including runbooks, architecture diagrams, and support procedures.

About You

Essential Skills / Experience:

  • Extensive hands-on experience supporting Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) and Citrix DaaS, including hybrid or cloud-hosted environments.
  • Deep understanding of Citrix architecture including Studio, Director, StoreFront, WEM and NetScaler Gateway.
  • Proficient in managing user sessions, FSLogix profiles, printing, HDX/ICA performance, and Workspace App.
  • Strong knowledge of Citrix PVS and/or MCS image management.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for Citrix administration and automation.
  • Solid background in Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and general server administration.

The Desirables

  • ITIL Foundation qualified
  • Citrix Certified Associate or Professional (CCA-V / CCP-V) – required
  • Advanced Citrix certifications (e.g., CCE-V) – desirable
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, MCSA/MCSE) – desirable
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a structured approach to problem-solving.
  • A proactive mentor with a passion for coaching and developing others in the team.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team player with the ability to work autonomously when required.
  • Focused on continuous improvement, best practice adherence, and delivering high service quality.
