Hosting and Cooking Volunteer
Community Kitchen Glos
Date: 1 week ago
City: Gloucester, England
Contract type: Full time

Join our amazing volunteer team and help us serve a free, three-course meal for anyone who needs it in Gloucester.
At Community Kitchen, we're not just about feeding hungry people, it's about our Gloucester community. We don't just cook and serve food, we create a calm, welcoming environment where we serve a totally free three course meal to anyone who needs it on a Monday evening.
Join our team of volunteers! Maybe you'll start by welcoming guests or serving the starter course? Maybe you'd prefer to jump on our drinks station and make teas and coffees while others serve them?
After a few weeks' volunteering at our Monday meals, you'll feel more confident and might be chatting with a new guest and helping them find solutions to the difficulties they have - maybe referring them to other charities and/or service providers. Alternatively, you might be more suited to our team of chefs and soon be leading the preparation of the dessert course in the kitchen. Your Community Kitchen volunteering journey is what makes you the best volunteer you can be!
When you volunteer with Community Kitchen, you join a completely volunteer-led charity - we have no paid staff - so when we say it's your community kitchen, we really mean it.
We serve 70-90 three-course meals in one sitting and all of our volunteer roles are busy and well organised. You'll need good timekeeping and thrive working under a little bit of pressure. Previous experience isn't necessary because you will get all the training and support you need. If this sounds like your thing and you're free on a Monday night, why not give us a try - there's no ongoing commitment.
