The Adaptavist Group is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join their remote-first team. You’ll help build and maintain the core platform that powers their ScriptRunner Cloud products, designing and delivering scalable systems using cutting-edge tools and methodologies.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced backend engineer with AWS and Java expertise who’s ready to work in a flexible, innovative, and inclusive engineering culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, test, and deploy serverless applications using AWS (ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, SNS)
- Design scalable, fault-tolerant architecture for high-traffic systems
- Oversee build pipelines, hosting architecture, and CI/CD practices
- Manage application monitoring, set up alerts, and respond to incidents
- Solve complex platform challenges and support infrastructure improvements
- Collaborate on agile ceremonies including retrospectives, standups, and peer reviews
- Create documentation and provide technical insight into engineering decisions
Skills & Experience Required:
- Strong backend engineering experience, especially in Java and Spring Boot
- Hands-on experience with AWS and distributed systems at scale
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and serverless architecture
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate and share knowledge across a team
- Passion for scalable infrastructure and continuous improvement
Desirable:
- Experience working with REST APIs and microservices
- Knowledge of Atlassian’s Connect or Forge platforms
- A creative, inclusive, and mentorship-minded approach
