Wolfson College is one of the 31 Colleges in the University of Cambridge and provides an academic home for over 900 students aged 21 or above, 100 Fellows, and 100 staff. There are more than 450 residential units on site, housing over 500 residents. Together with the other Electrician the postholder will help to deliver and maintain an effective and high standard electrical maintenance function across the College, complying with British Standards, mandatory regulations and codes of practice for electrical systems. They will also provide assistance and support to other trades with their duties as directed by Line Managers.  


Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical maintenance, testing and repairs.
  • Carry out electrical installations and testing.
  • Fault finding in College facilities and where appropriate carrying out repairs.
  • Maintaining up to date electronic records of tests carried out.
  • Advising College residents on electrical equipment and adaptors.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on all College electrical and control equipment.
  • Plan work, procure correct materials and execute the work in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Capable of working on own initiative.
  • Overseeing and supervising contractors working on College property.
  • Responding to callouts in line with the Maintenance Department Policy and Line Managers instructions.
  • Assist Line Managers with electrical technical knowledge when required.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with current Health and Safety regulations.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties required by the Line Managers.


Qualifications    

  •  City & Guilds 2361-part-1 Electrical installations
  •       City & Guilds 2361-part-2 Electrical installations
  •       City & Guilds 2391 Electrical Inspection and Testing
  •       JIB approved electrician.
  •       Safe use of electrical power tools and equipment
  • 18th Edition of electrical codes

  •        Good communication skills 
  •     High level of spoken English (this is essential for Health & Safety training and to be able to carry out the duties of the position)

  • Salary: £37,228 - £39,873 per annum, depending on experience.
