The role

We’re looking for a Bid writer to join our Opencast Growth Team on a Fixed Term Contract for 12 months. The ideal candidate will need bid writing experience. You don’t have to have worked in a technology consultancy, but understanding the industry will help.

The role involves writing our response to a range of Government and public sector procurements through varied frameworks. You’ll work with the wider Opencast team to write compelling bid responses, drawing on the expertise and experience of our consulting team.

Within the role, there is scope to get involved in wider bid management activities. This could include helping teams to prepare for bid presentations, answer planning and Q&A scenarios.

Essential experience:

  • Experience of bid writing in a technology consultancy
  • Knowledge of technology consultancy services, methods and technologies
  • In responding to Government Frameworks e.g., DOS/DSP opportunities
  • Working with the wider team to identify and understand win themes and USPs
  • Developing bid storyboards and answer plans to provide a structured bid response
  • Using best practice bid writing techniques to improve our writing quality
  • Analysing evaluation criteria to improve our bid response
  • Working on multiple bids simultaneously, each with its own deadlines and requirements

You'll need a good understanding of:

  • Developing bid writing strategy against client requirements
  • Reviewing, editing, giving feedback and formatting bid responses
  • Researching information about clients to support compelling proposals

Other essential skills:

  • Have a keen eye and is detailed oriented
  • Can coordinate multiple priorities in parallel
  • Can clearly articulate the benefits of products so they align with client needs
  • Want to learn and are naturally inquisitive
  • Are a problem-solver and enjoy challenging the status quo
  • Are highly organised and have good time management skills
  • Can coach bid teams on best practice writing
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Are a team player and collaborate well with others

Other helpful experience:

  • Working with partner organisations to write joint bid responses 
  • With pricing bids, responding to proposed scenarios and preparing rate cards
  • Track record of successful bid submissions

Salary

Salary range: £49,000 - £64,000
