Are you an organised and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant looking to join a supportive and fast-paced finance team? Do you take pride in keeping financial processes running smoothly and accurately?


We are excited to be working with a respected legal firm to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant to support their busy Basildon office. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong transactional finance experience, especially within a professional services environment.


Responsibilities:

As an Accounts Assistant, you will...


  • Reconcile monthly retention and application debtors ledgers.
  • Lead monthly CVR reviews, collating and analysing cost data for director-level reporting.
  • Prepare GDC reports by compiling timesheet and CRM data, producing individual engineer P&L summaries.
  • Produce monthly Riggers P&L and steel price reviews.
  • Generate technical timesheet reports and maintain regular cost tracking.
  • Review external expenses and report findings to directors.
  • Maintain a monthly energy utility tracker in support of the Health & Safety department.
  • Support the SAS team in maintaining the applications and debtors report, including project cash recovery analysis.
  • Conduct monthly WIP reviews and assist with final account reconciliations.
  • Liaise with external auditors, providing required documentation and support.
  • Deliver accurate ad hoc financial reports as requested.
  • Undertake additional tasks as appropriate to the level and scope of the role.


Requirements:

As an Accounts Assistant, you will need...


  • Strong experience in a finance role with exposure to reporting, reconciliations, and credit control.
  • Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with CRM and finance software (e.g. Sage, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, SOS).
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage and analyse high volumes of financial data.
  • Experience liaising with auditors and preparing financial documentation for review.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
