The Role

As a Quality Engineer at Norton Motorcycles, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained across the manufacturing process. This role involves working closely with production, design, and supply chain teams to implement robust quality control systems, drive root cause analysis, and ensure customer satisfaction through the delivery of defect-free motorcycles.

You will support the continuous improvement of processes, manage internal and supplier quality issues, and contribute to the development of a world-class quality culture. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a high-performance automotive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Systems & Compliance
  • Maintain and support ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 quality management systems.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and process controls.
  • Develop and implement quality processes to support quality improvement targets (DPB)
  • Support external audits and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Production Quality Support
  • Monitor and manage quality issues arising from the production line.
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) using tools such as 8D, 5-Whys, and Fishbone diagrams.
  • Implement and verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Supplier Quality Management
  • Collaborate with the supply chain team to monitor supplier quality performance.
  • Perform supplier audits and PPAP/APQP activities for new and existing components.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve non-conformances and ensure component quality.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Lead or participate in quality improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce rework, scrap, and warranty issues.
  • Promote a culture of quality and right-first-time mentality across all functions.
  • Customer & Warranty Interface
  • Investigate customer quality concerns and warranty claims.
  • Conduct failure analysis and drive product improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare quality reports and present data to stakeholders across the business.

Key Skills And Experience

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience in a quality engineering role within the automotive, aerospace, or high-precision manufacturing sector.
  • Strong understanding of quality tools: 8D, FMEA, PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar quality management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and data-driven decision making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Certified Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
  • Experience working with luxury or high-performance vehicles.
  • Proficiency in using quality data analysis tools and software (e.g., Minitab, Q-DAS).
