Capital Markets & Advisory (CMA) is a division of Corporate & Institutional Banking comprising the Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Leveraged & Acquisition Finance (LAF), Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Mergers & Acquisition (M&A), Structured Equity Finance (SEF), Corporate Risk Solutions (CRS), Structured Financing (SF), Private Credit Origination and Financing teams from our legacy CMB business and Sector/Country Coverage Bankers.


The Global Strategy Implementation and Insight (SI&I) team provides support on a number of strategic initiatives to CMA Management, as well as our business partners across the group. This team has a close working relationship with CMA Business Heads, CMA COO, and key partners across CIB including Chief of Staff, Finance, Technology, Transformation, Comms and Marketing stakeholders.


We are seeking a dynamic and strategic professional to join our Capital Markets & Advisory (CMA) division as an Associate in the Chief Operating Office (COO) team in London. The candidate will collaborate with senior leaders to develop, implement, and monitor strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with the bank's overarching strategic goals. This involves promoting CMA’s strengths and successes to our key stakeholders (internal & external), as well as driving initiatives that support the frontline in achieving our ambitions.


A successful candidate will take lead as an engagement manager, partnering with CMA Leadership team and COO to deliver content to our business partners (Group/CIB). They will be responsible for the delivery of a coherent and impactful narrative and brand building for CMA.


Examples include;

  • Support the delivery and day-day requirements for business performance and marketing material (internal / external) – driving engagement on content opportunities, working in partnership with COO, Marketing & Communications teams to coordinate and facilitate content from CMA. This includes working collaboratively with RC/Legal teams, to ensure appropriate content and control procedures are adhered to. Current activities include,
  • Get an in-depth understanding and become a reference for CMAs notable franchise-enhancing deals, to be able to input into various leadership forums, including CEO Board paper and quarterly performance updates. Responsible for creating a powerful narrative across our deals, identifying common themes and emerging trends to feed into our CMA narrative. In addition, work closely with Comms team to support coordination of the monthly CMA Deal Highlights Newsletter and identify notable franchise deals to highlight on social media platforms to increase CMA presence.
  • Lead coordination of the CMA Awards process for priority publications. This includes, overseeing the awards calendar and ensuring the business is aware of upcoming award pitches; maintenance of the global CMA award repository (e.g. updating results/ dates/ guidelines); facilitating dialogue between CIB Awards team, Comms team and the business around awards promotion and relationships with the publication
  • Take lead on quarterly COO newsletter that showcases achievements & updates across CMA COO, that is shared with senior stakeholders, including CIB COO and CMA Leadership
  • Keep CMA websites up-to-date (Intranet and public website), working with Comms and GPS teams, including Content Hub,
  • Drive engagement around digital transformation & strategic projects, ensuring prioritization is aligned to strategic goals and driving ROI outcomes. Responsibilities include coordination among multiple business partners, leading the comms plan around roll-out and deployment of new tools, drive adoption, and capture business feedback to address pain points/enhancements.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • The role holder will need a high degree of stakeholder management in order to be able to work closely with senior personnel across products, as well as our business partners
  • Excellent presentation skills, highly proficient in PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
  • Be able to manage complex projects effectively, including prioritisation of initiatives considering the resources available
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and a willingness to take ownership of issues/ escalate where appropriate, work independently with confidence and deliver on tight deadlines
  • Successful candidate would be practical, diplomatic, and professional, possessing a strong personality with a willingness to drive the success of the Capital Markets strategy with the confidence to challenge established norms where necessary;
  • Be able to work effectively under pressure and with multiple stakeholders and willingness to go the ‘extra-mile’
  • The role holder would benefit from experience in one or more of the banking business lines within CIB. In addition, it would be advantageous to have experience with working with partners across different functions, such as Transformation, Technology, Communications, Marketing, Legal and Compliance.
