Job Introduction

Internal Communications and Engagement (IC&E) sits at the heart of the BBC. It connects our workforce to our culture, the BBC’s public purpose and mission, and our vision and strategy.

Reporting to Head of Leadership Communications, this IC&E Lead role is a key part of a team that makes sure our leadership communications and engagement is of the highest quality and that it supports our leaders and managers to perform at their very best.

This position can be based in either Birmingham, Salford or London with regular travel to other BBC bases.

Our Leadership Communications team is responsible for delivering our programme of leadership communications that equips and engages leaders across the BBC to deliver our priorities.

Main Responsibilities

As IC&E lead you will be critical to the execution and delivery of world-class leadership communications; core leadership channels and leadership editorial and publishing plan; writing and delivering key group wide announcements, and building outstanding partnerships with key stakeholders in HR (e.g. People & Organisational Development, People Experience).

As I&CE Lead Your Key Duties Are To

  • Support the Head of Leadership Communications to help develop pan-BBC leadership communications strategy that support our priorities, transformation and key engagement activities.
  • Help develop and deliver outstanding leadership communications, so leaders are brilliantly equipped and engaged to confidently and consistently share and reinforce the BBC’s strategy, priorities and achievements with their teams.
  • Work closely with Corporate Communications team to help deliver a suite of effective and efficient leadership comms channels and to build leadership support for BBC wide campaigns Help with the delivery of engagement events for Senior Executive Group, Senior Leaders and People Managers.
  • Be well networked across the organisation and in tune with what’s going on with IC colleagues across the divisions - so the team can react to and reflect current affairs and avoid duplication.
  • Use insight and intelligence to develop our leadership communications approach and assist with measuring and evaluating activity to drive high performance.
  • Act as an ambassador for the BBC’s Values and behaviours to make sure our leadership communications reflect and role model these.
  • Deputise for the Head of Leadership Communications as required.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Need

  • Demonstrable experience of working a high performing internal communications & engagement team.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in an insight-driven environment.
  • A first-class creative approach and application of effective communications techniques.
  • Good planning skills and the ability to oversee multiple high-profile projects simultaneously, to tight deadlines.

Package Description

Band: D

Contract type: Permanent

Location: Office base can be any of the main Hubs (i.e. Birmingham, Salford or London). If based outside of London, will require regular travel to London. This is a hybrid role with office working (2 days a week) and home working for the remainder

Salary: anticipated range £45,000 to.£55,000pa (plus London Weighting £5,319pa if London based), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
