Main Purpose of Role

Our GDHV Engineering team are looking for a production engineer to support our manufacturing departments.

Key Accountabilities

  • Design, sourcing, purchasing, commissioning and on-going support of production processes, tooling, fixtures and equipment to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Maintain the current production processes to safety, quality and cost targets.
  • Respond to any technical issues of metal fabricated components, painted panels and assembled products identifying the root cause and co-ordinating actions.
  • Identify and lead process improvement projects.
  • Co-ordinate the production of new assembly jigs and fixtures, modifications and repairs.


Role/Responsibilities

  • Analise, design, and optimize mechanical and pneumatic systems within the manufacturing process.
  • Support to tooling issues in fabrication and assembly, ensuring smooth production operations.
  • Utilize drawing software packages (AutoCAD, Creo, or SolidWorks) to create and modify technical drawings and schematics.
  • Develop and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for products, ensuring accurate documentation and inventory control.
  • Implement and oversee route timings, including process flow mapping and time calculations, to optimize production efficiency.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, quality control, and production teams, to improve workflow and resolve production challenges.
  • Identify and lead process improvement projects.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in the workplace.


Essential Criteria

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant industrial experience in roles such as Production, Process, Manufacturing, or Automation Engineer.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience applying Manufacturing excellence methodologies for process optimization and waste reduction.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Root Cause Analysis for structured problem-solving.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems in a production environment.
  • Experience with production planning concepts such as process flow mapping, takt time, and cycle time analysis.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.


Desirable Criteria

  • Certification in Manufacturing excellence methodologies (Lean).
  • Experience in managing and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) in MRP/ERP systems
  • Working knowledge of CAD tools (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks), particularly for reviewing and interpreting designs.
  • Background in pneumatics or experience with pneumatic systems in automation.


Travel

The successful candidate will be required to travel to other Glen Dimplex facilities as well as occasionally visit other businesses e.g. customers, equipment suppliers as required.
