Rural Watch Africa Initiative (RUWAI) is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering rural communities in Africa through sustainable agriculture, ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, and livelihood support. We use innovative, community-based approaches to tackle poverty, deforestation, and food insecurity.

Role (Volunteer): Web Developer.

Role Description: We are seeking a passionate and skilled volunteer website developer to help redesign and maintain RUWAI’s website. The ideal candidate will enhance our online presence, improve user experience, and ensure our platform effectively showcases our impact and programs.

Responsibilities:

• Redesign and update RUWAI’s existing website to reflect our mission, programs, and recent impact.
• Ensure the website is mobile-friendly, accessible, and optimized for speed and search engines (SEO).
• Integrate interactive features such as blogs, donation platforms, event pages, and newsletters.
• Manage regular updates, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure site security.
• Collaborate with RUWAI’s communications and project teams to keep content current.
• Provide basic training or documentation for team members on website management.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in WordPress, Wix, or similar CMS platforms
• Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SEO best practices
• Strong design skills with a portfolio of past website projects
• Passion for social impact, sustainability, or community development
