The Twisting Ducks Theatre Company is looking for new trustees to help us achieve our vision of a society that values the diversity, creativity and citizenship of people with learning disabilities and autistic people.

You will contribute to making sure that The Twisting Ducks grows its impact and achieves its strategic goals; including reaching more beneficiaries, widening our audiences, developing our people, and strengthening the organisation’s financial sustainability. What are we looking for?
What are we looking for? A strong commitment to our mission and values. At least 3 years professional experience in either HR, organisational management, legal/charity law, or digital and IT strategy. A willingness to promote the rights of people with a learning disability and autistic people. Strong networking skills and a desire to use professional contacts to support The Twisting Ducks mission. A strategic perspective. A willingness to try new, accessible ways of working to ensure equitable involvement for our trustees with learning disabilities. Excellent communication skills and an understanding of how to add constructively to discussions. An eagerness to build new relationships and become part of a team. Previous Board experience is not necessary. The Twisting Ducks Theatre Company (a Charitable Incorporated Organisation) is looking for new trustees with professional experience in any of the following areas HR Organisational management Legal Digital and IT strategy We are also keen to recruit trustees who have experience working within the Arts and culture/creative industries, or working with learning disability communities and/or other marginalised groups. What you will be doing You will work with our Board of 5 skilled, committed trustees - including trustees with lived experience of learning disabilities and autism - and the senior team, to help us achieve our mission using the arts to tackle inequalities and improve wellbeing by increasing opportunities for people with learning disabilities and autistic people to have their voices heard and to contribute to their community. Our delivery includes 9 creative sessions per week across 4 North East localities. enabling beneficiaries to lead on their own projects, e.g., devising and performing their own original live theatre that reflects their lived experience. outreach drama workshops (led by our artists with learning disabilities and autism) to involve our wider community of interest and to use drama as a safe tool to explore social issues. Delivering commissioned projects (films, multi-media performances) that raise awareness, generate income, and provide paid employment opportunities for our group members. People with lived experience leading on The Twisting Ducks work, including at governance level, is core to our organisation.
