The role
Orbit are delighted to announce that we are looking to recruit a Procurement Officer to join our Procurement team. This unique opportunity would be suitable for an individual with an understanding of supply and demand, or a candidate looking for their first step into the fast-paced world of public sector procurement.
The purpose of procurement is to obtain competitive prices for supplies, delivering the most value for money for the organisation throughout the procurement lifecycle. This must be done within the applicable legislative framework.
A Procurement Officer is a central part of the procurement department, and you’ll liaise with key stakeholders to ensure Procurement requirements are understood and comply with internal governance and procurement policies.
What you'll achieve
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to support delivery of Procurement objectives and Orbit’s 2030 Strategy.
- Identify and document risks, issues and opportunities.
- Lead assigned sourcing initiatives, which vary in terms of scope and scale.
- Build relationships with key suppliers.
- Adhere to the corporate standards and applicable legislative frameworks, including using the defined sourcing tools and processes in delivery of sourcing initiatives. Promote compliance with business processes.
- Support organisation in the preparation and publication of applicable notices (as per Procurement Act 2023) and other applicable legislation.
- Manage procurement systems, as required.

- An appreciation of Procurement Processes and challenges
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Ability to prioritise a varied workload and work under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Project Management and problem solving skills.
- Good user-level knowledge of MS Office programmes, particularly Excel and Word
