We are looking for an experienced and inspirational Curriculum Manager to lead our Explorer Pathway, developing and delivering outstanding educational provision.

Main purpose and scope of post
Lead on the development of the Pathway’s provision, ensuring highly effective and successful study programmes, and a coherent approach to supporting learners with their specific needs. Create a Pathway, which supports transition in and progression out, and make effective use of all resources to ensure a person-centred approach to learning in order to maximise learner progress.

Responsibilities and accountabilities – detailed
- Teach a caseload of 5 hours per week.
- Line manage a Pathway team of teachers and a Deputy Curriculum Manager to ensure the effective deployment of teachers, to maximise learner progress.
- Lead, plan and manage the Pathway curriculum, liaising with other managers to ensure the effective coordination of all elements of the study programme.
- Work closely with the Safeguarding & Behaviour and Clinical Teams to ensure that the management of behaviour in the Pathway continues to be outstanding
- Lead on the development of enterprise and employability activities with the employability team and external partners, to create exciting opportunities within the curriculum, informed by the expertise of employers.
- Create an environment which promotes outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment. Inspire, enthuse and support staff to create their own development plan and take a pro-active approach to their own professional development always aiming for outstanding teaching and learning.
- Lead on the annual self-assessment process for the Pathway, involving all staff, and develop and implement a quality improvement plan for the Pathway, ensuring progress is monitored regularly throughout the year.
- Produce an annual improvement plan for teaching and learning within the Pathway and, in conjunction with the Deputy Curriculum manager, put in place appropriate training and development.
- Work with Pathway staff and LRC staff to ensure effective use of learning resources, particularly to support learning outside of formal learning activities.
- Lead on improvement activities in line with the Quality Improvement Strategy, to ensure ongoing improvement in the learner experience, and learner progress and outcomes.
- Lead on the standardisation and verification process in line with Awarding Body requirements or the RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement) Framework, including effective liaison with external Standards Verifiers.
- Make effective use of Databridge and Strata to monitor key performance data and implement associated remedial actions across the Pathway.
- Work closely with teachers and Progress Coaches to ensure excellent learner attendance.
- Work with teachers and other cross-college managers so that Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and the Hereward Approach to Teaching, Learning and Assessment are embedded throughout the curriculum, maximising individual learner progress.
- Ensure the effective use of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs). Work with staff who contribute towards learners’ programmes to ensure appropriate targets are established and progress is recorded accurately and frequently, by staff and learners.
- Work with staff to support learners with effective transition into the Pathway and progression out into employment or further study.
- Develop effective employer partnerships to inform and enhance the curriculum and support progression opportunities for learners.
- Embed employability activities and learning into the curriculum and work with the employability team to ensure coherent links with industry.
- Liaise with the Exams Officer to ensure accurate course registration and the timely submission of all documentation of Awarding Bodies
- Liaise with the Admissions Manager and ensure Pathway staff take an active role in the admissions process, and provide accurate and effective information, advice and guidance (IAG).
- Work with the Admissions Manager to ensure that the Consultation process is effective and meets statutory deadlines
- Promote and embed equality and diversity throughout the Pathway’s curriculum, supporting the College’s equality and diversity plan.
- Be responsible for developing and maintaining skills and knowledge to competently perform own role through research and training as identified during the appraisal process and on-going feedback.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of college strategies, policies and procedures.
- Work with the Director of Quality on the active promotion of Green Skills and Sustainability across the college, including the implementation of the College’s Green Skills Roadmap.
- Effectively manage the departmental budget.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by line manager.
