We’re offering an exciting opportunity for an Applications Support Analyst to join our dynamic team on an 18-month fixed-term contract. This role sits at the 2nd/3rd Line level and will see you play a key part in supporting critical systems and applications across the organisation. You'll be the first point of contact within the Applications Support team, providing expert support for the IT systems that underpin vital Council services.

This position has been created with a view to future development. While initially a fixed-term post, we’re looking for someone with the potential and drive to grow into a Senior Applications Support Analyst role. For the right person, this role offers a clear pathway to progress, backed by structured training and development over the 18-month period.

Our team is expanding to support major projects and digital initiatives such as AI and our new Innovation Hub, It’s an exciting time to get involved and make a real impact.

Your days will be varied – from conducting root-cause analysis to resolving complex technical issues escalated from the helpdesk. You’ll manage queues of support calls, handle incidents and service requests, and provide technical guidance to users and colleagues alike. You’ll also contribute to maintaining technical documentation and support materials.

You’ll have the chance to work with a wide range of services including Adult Social Care, Children’s Services, Education, Housing, and Regulatory Services – no two days will be the same. You’ll also support wider project teams with tasks such as software updates, change control processes, and system testing.

You’re someone with a genuine enthusiasm for technology and problem-solving. You enjoy getting to the root of technical issues, and you’re confident working methodically through complex problems. Strong communication skills are a must – you’ll be dealing with both technical colleagues and service users, so the ability to explain things clearly is key.

You’ll need to be adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling a varied workload. We’re particularly interested in individuals who are looking to take the next step in their career and would welcome the chance to develop into a more senior role in the future.
