Executive Officer in the Office of the President and Vice-Chancellor

The University of Manchester is seeking a proactive and highly organised Executive Officer to join the President’s Office, supporting the Head of Office and working closely with the wider University Executive. This is a dynamic role at the heart of the University’s strategic leadershipideal for someone who thrives on variety and fast-paced environments. You will be joining the office at a pivotal point as the University’s new strategy is being developed and its launch being planned. You will lead the delivery and evaluation of projects as directed by the Head of Office. Ensuring alignment with the University’s strategic goals and the objectives of the President & Vice-Chancellor, and that outcomes are delivered on time and to the highest standard. You’ll also prepare high-quality briefings and reports, helping senior leaders stay informed and focused.
The role will involve collaboration with colleagues across the University who manage projects, arrange events and/or engagement activities (both internal and external) to ensure that those involving the President and Vice-Chancellor are strategically aligned, focused and use the full breadth of expertise of our community.
Alongside your project work, you’ll play a key role in representing the President’s Office across the University and beyondbuilding strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including students, staff, alumni, community partners, industry leaders and government representatives. You’ll support major events, forums and engagements, from high-level strategy sessions to roundtables and conferences, ensuring every detail is carefully considered and aligned with the University’s goals.
No two days will be the same, and you’ll need to bring a combination of professional judgement, adaptability, and creative thinking. With strong interpersonal and analytical skills, experience in managing complex projects, and the confidence to navigate senior environments, you’ll be a trusted, valued member of a small team working at the centre of one of the UK’s leading universities.
