Week 1 - Monday to Friday 06:00am - 09:00am
Week 2 - Monday to Friday 17:00pm - 20:00pm
We are looking for a proactive and reliable Caretaker to ensure the smooth running of the Council Offices within the Arnot Hill Park Campus and Council Depot Site. The successful candidate will take on a variety of tasks, ranging from ensuring the security of the premises to maintaining high cleanliness standards, to supporting civic functions. This is an essential role in keeping our offices safe, tidy, and running efficiently.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Security: Oversee the day-to-day security of the office buildings within the Arnot Hill Park complex and Council Depot Site, ensuring the premises are secure at all times.
- Premises Maintenance: Report all defects or repairs required to the premises to Property Services and assist with minor repairs when necessary.
- Building Security: Unlock and secure the premises, activate security equipment, and ensure all lights are switched off when appropriate.
- Cleaning Oversight: Monitor the standard of cleaning and window cleaning provided by the contract cleaners, reporting any discrepancies to the Cleaning Supervisor.
- Event Setup: Set out the Council Chamber and other rooms within the Civic Centre Campus for meetings, committees, and civic functions. This includes setting up for events outside regular working hours, including weekends and evening meetings (overtime paid).
- Refreshments: Provide refreshments (tea, coffee, biscuits) at meetings and perform routine cleaning of drinks machines.
- Janitorial Duties: Undertake regular janitorial duties, including tasks like changing light bulbs and ensuring the general upkeep of the office premises.
- Security Response: Be available on a call-out basis outside normal working hours in the event of a security breach.
- Flag Duties: Raise and lower the official flags as required on appropriate occasions.
- Other Duties: Carry out other relevant tasks consistent with the role of Caretaker, as required by the Cleaning Supervisor.
- Cover for Other Caretaker: Provide cover in the absence of the other part-time caretaker as needed.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience in a caretaking, janitorial, or facilities management role is preferred.
- Ability to identify minor maintenance issues and basic repairs required.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others.
- A proactive and responsible approach to work, with the ability to work independently.
- Willingness to work outside regular hours for events, with overtime pay provided.
- A flexible attitude to take on various tasks as required.
The role may involve cleaning of Police offices within the Civic Centre, and the successful candidate will be required to pass NPPV Level 2 (Non-Police Personnel Vetting) checks.
