The difference you will make as a Sustainability Project Officer
The purpose of the role is to support the development and implementation of Riverside’s “Retrofit Roadmap” and “Healthy Homes Roadmap” to deliver modern, low carbon, and healthy homes. The ideal candidate will have an interest in the link between technology, innovation, building performance, decarbonisation, and healthy homes.
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
- A relevant academic qualification, or equivalent demonstrable working experience.
- Working knowledge of retrofit and energy efficiency in housing, including the impact and effectiveness of energy efficiency measures.
- Experience of reviewing projects and using lessons learnt to improve processes.
- Experience in handling datasets, identifying anomalies in data and proposing solutions, and using datasets to inform the development of processes and investment strategies.
- Ability to interpret building performance and asset data related to energy efficiency.

Role Profile
- Support the planning and implementation of Riverside’s Healthy Homes Roadmap to improve air quality, thermal comfort, climate resilience, and noise pollution in alignment with the TCPA Healthy Homes Principles.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of retrofit processes and procedures by assessing past and in progress projects. Includes delivering IOT monitoring projects to assess building performance data.
- Evaluate innovative energy efficiency measures, systems, and retrofit delivery models for suitability for incorporation into the delivery programmes.
- Coordinate with Asset Management/Compliance teams and Riverside Contractors to ensure existing renewables, low carbon heating, ventilation and other sustainable systems in Riverside homes have agreed processes to enable efficient specification, installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Support the Sustainability Implementation Manager in delivering the Group’s wider Climate Responsibility Strategy where required.
- Contribute to the development, review, and effective use of decarbonisation policies and procedures, and their continuous improvement, identifying areas where amendments are required as a result of legislative changes, policy updates or customer and stakeholder needs.
- Ensure internal business processes are followed in line with the Group’s policy, procedures and statutory requirements.
- Respond flexibly to any necessary changes in work priorities and undertake other duties when required to support the effective operation of the service.

Person specification
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- A relevant academic qualification, or equivalent demonstrable working experience.
- Working knowledge of retrofit and energy efficiency in housing, including the impact and effectiveness of energy efficiency measures.
- Experience of reviewing projects and using lessons learnt to improve processes.
- Experience in handling datasets, identifying anomalies in data and proposing solutions, and using datasets to inform the development of processes and investment strategies.
- Ability to interpret building performance and asset data related to energy efficiency.
- Knowledge of renewable energy technology.
- Experience in providing high quality reports and presentations to key stakeholders.
- Personal and professional interest in improving the energy efficiency of the UK housing stock and improving living conditions for residents.
- Personal commitment to diversity, treating others with dignity and respect, with a real desire to understand and meet diverse customer needs and aspirations.
- Able to communicate information in writing and verbally to colleagues at all levels.
- Able to identify customer needs and design solutions to meet them within the organisational, sector and global context.
