The Education Service is seeking to recruit a Curriculum Improvement Advisor for Engagement and Learning.


This post holder will provide direct support to the Assistant Head of Education for Engagement and Learning to realise the Council’s aims and objectives in relation to education and positive outcomes for children and young people. The post holder will have a specific focus on reducing the impact of poverty, securing effective destinations, developing community focused schools and Emotional Health and Mental Wellbeing.


Responsibilities are fully detailed in the attached job description, and include:


  • Collaborate with the Assistant Head of Education for Engagement and Learning to lead key areas of the Education Service to secure positive education experiences for children and young people at all stages of education
  • Line manage of a team of officers
  • Set and monitor progress towards targets for key performance indicators within the annual service plan
  • Identify and disseminate good practice through a range of initiatives, including the provision of training and support, at an LA, cluster, school and individual staff level
  • Deputise for the Assistant Head of Education as and when appropriate and undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade.
  • Represent the Council in networking with a range of agencies, forums and partners at a local, regional and national level.


Possession of a current driver’s licence is a necessary requirement for this post.
