About Biomodal

Join the multiomic revolution! Over the last 20 years, genomic technologies have enabled significant discoveries that bring the promise of personalised medicine closer than ever before. But after two decades of research, it's clear that genetic variation only tells part of the story – biology is dynamic and more complex than A, C, T, G. Already, the added information from a multiomic view of biology is yielding important insights into cancer, ageing, and neurological disease, and is poised to revolutionise how we understand health and disease beyond canonical variation in DNA.

biomodal is an omics-based life sciences technology and analytics company, delivering products that bring the dynamism of our ever-changing biology into focus. Our team is dedicated to developing the most advanced solutions to interrogate and understand the complex interplay of genomics and epigenomics.

We have launched our first products, the duet +modC and duet evoC solutions, with more in the pipeline, and are looking to grow and evolve our business accordingly. This is an incredible opportunity to step into an exciting, early-stage company at the cutting edge of science with exceptional growth and market impact potential.

Multiomics is the future – come and join the biomodal team!

The Team

Sitting within biomodal's Research and Development function, the Protein Sciences team focuses on the development, characterisation, and process scale-up of the key enzymes in our assay platform. Working closely with our Product Development and Operations teams, the Protein team have the critical task of ensuring the molecular workhorses of our platform are robust, specific and can be produced at scale.

The Role

This role will focus on supporting the teams' manufacturing and QC activities, with an emphasis on protein purification using FPLC.

Core duties:

  • Supporting the manufacturing of biomodal's key enzymes
    • Protein production via cell culture
    • Protein purification via FPLC (AKTA platform)
  • Quality control and stability testing of proteins
  • Supporting process development activities
  • Data handling and inputting into laboratory management systems (LIMS)
The Person

The ideal candidate could either be a life sciences graduate with hands-on laboratory experience (can be in industrial or academic setting) or a non-graduate with strong laboratory exposure. The key is that all candidates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of Protein Purification using FPLC (Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography) with hands-on experience of this.

Key requirements:

  • BSc/MSc in relevant subject area (Biology, Biochemistry, Genomics) or non-graduate with equivalent lab experience.
  • Hands on experience of protein purification techniques.
  • Good reporting skills with ideally some exposure to laboratory management systems (LIMS)

This is a great opportunity for a Technician or Research Associate, with a strong desire to join a company developing an exciting omics technology, who would like to gain more experience in a protein sciences laboratory.

Benefits
