Post No. POSN004304 - Play Support Officer
Newport Youth and Play Service offers a range of provisions for children and young people aged 5-25 and consists of a talented and enthusiastic team of professional youth and play workers who operate across the city. This set up consists of play and youth clubs, one to one and project work that all provide a wide variety of creative opportunities and experiences that encourage the participation and development of children and young people in communities.
The Youth and Play Service promotes a strong connection between targeted and universal work that ensures there is a consistent offer of support to children and young people when they need it.
An exciting opportunity has become available within the Youth and Play Service for a Play Support Officer.
We’re seeking an enthusiastic Play Support Officer, where you'll facilitate enriching play experiences for children and young people aged 5-12 in both school and community settings. Your responsibilities will include supporting self-directed play, ensuring safety, preparing resources, and fostering positive relationships with children and colleagues. We're looking for someone with experience of being part of a team, and a proven ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate programmes effectively with children, young people, and staff. An awareness of local agencies and an understanding of the 'neighbourhood' you'll be working in are also important. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to children's learning and well-being through play.
