Job Description
The General Utility Worker II serves a variety of essential back of the house and front of house Food & Beverage (F&B) roles. The role involves maintaining a safe sanitary work environment and gaining extensive knowledge of proper use and cleaning techniques for kitchen equipment.
Job Responsibilities
- To attend appropriate training sessions as and when required.
- To have a full knowledge of all areas of work to be covered in the course of duty.
- To ensure that the required standards are achieved at all times.
- To always attempt to improve on existing standards of work.
- To ensure all areas are left in a clean & presentable state.
- All equipment turned off at the end of shift.
- To be polite, friendly and helpful at all times.
- Deal with individual customer requests.
- Listen to customer remarks politely and make sure follow up action is taken.
- To make the most of sales opportunities by encouraging the customer to buy something new or have extra portions.
- To make sure the counter top displays are clean and attractive.
- To take an active part in any unit sales promotions and make your own suggestions to help increase sales.
- To give any information that might lead to new business to the sales department.
- To be prepared to help out doing other things in the unit when necessary. Banqueting / housekeeping / porteing.
- To see where you need to change your own activities to meet different circumstances.
- To look out for and tell the Manager when you see ways to improve work activities or reduce costs.
- To be friendly, pleasant, and polite to your work colleagues.
- Be prepared to help out the rest of the team in a willing and positive manner.
- To tell your colleagues what is going on in the unit and be prepared to go to company briefing and training sessions.
Skills
- A keen interest in food and service.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Flexibility and ability to work on own initiative.
- A good knowledge of Food Hygiene including HACCP.
- Good understanding of English.
- Dedication and self-motivation.
- Good timekeeping.
- Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
- To be able to contribute to maintaining high standards of personal hygiene.
- Courteous manner.
Qualifications & Experience
- 1 years’ experience in a similar environment.
- Customer service experience.
- Food hygiene experience.
- Previous experience of porterage, catering, cleaning, or housekeeping.
