Finance Manager – Analyst Centre of Excellence
Holland & Barrett
Location & working arrangement
Nuneaton | Full-time | Permanent | Hybrid
Role Info
Managing the numbers is one thing. Building a Finance team that helps the whole business make better decisions is another.
As our Finance Manager - Analyst Centre of Excellence, you'll lead a team of seven Finance Analysts, making sure they deliver the accurate reporting, management accounting and commercial insight that teams across Holland & Barrett rely on.
But this role isn't just about keeping month-end on track.
You'll have the opportunity to improve how the team works, reduce unnecessary manual processes and create more consistent, effective ways of supporting Finance Business Partners and the wider business.
You'll also play an important part in developing our Analyst Centre of Excellence into a more flexible, Group-wide function - one that can respond to changing priorities, share expertise and give our Finance teams the support they need.
It's a role for someone who enjoys developing people as much as improving processes and getting the numbers right.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and develop a team of seven Finance Analysts, setting priorities, managing workloads and helping people build their skills and careers.
- Oversee month-end management accounting, ensuring reporting, variance analysis and commentary are accurate and delivered on time.
- Make sure balance sheet reconciliations are completed properly, with clear controls and timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Work closely with Finance Business Partners, FP&A and Financial Control to understand what support they need and where the team's time will add the most value.
- Balance recurring reporting and month-end responsibilities with ad hoc commercial analysis, investment cases and emerging business priorities.
- Improve how the team works by simplifying processes, reducing duplication and identifying opportunities for automation.
- Introduce more consistent reporting, reconciliation and analytical approaches so Finance teams can work with reliable, comparable information.
- Help develop the Centre of Excellence into a Group-wide analyst resource, making it easier to share capacity, knowledge and expertise.
- Build strong relationships across Finance, managing expectations and making sure the team delivers work that's genuinely useful.
What You'll Bring
You'll already have a strong grounding in management accounting and financial reporting, along with experience leading and developing Finance teams.
But we're looking for someone who can do more than manage a month-end timetable.
- You're a qualified accountant with at least three years' post-qualification experience and a strong understanding of management accounting, reconciliations and financial controls.
- You know how to get the best from a team. You've managed Finance Analysts or management accounting colleagues before and understand how to balance performance, development and delivery.
- You can see where Finance could work better. You notice duplication, manual processes and inconsistent reporting - and know how to improve them.
- You understand the commercial picture. You can connect financial analysis with the decisions Finance Business Partners and business leaders need to make.
- You're comfortable managing competing priorities. You can balance fixed deadlines with new requests and make sensible decisions about where to focus the team's time.
- You're confident with financial systems, reporting tools and Excel, and interested in how technology and automation can make Finance more effective.
- You bring people with you. You can work across FP&A, Financial Control and Business Partnering, building trust and creating better ways of working.
