Export & Cross Trade Operator - Laindon - Full-time | Permanent

Our client is looking for an organised, proactive and customer-focused Ocean Export & Cross Trade Operator to join their team in Laindon.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced freight forwarding professional with knowledge of multi-modal exports and cross-trade operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage export bookings and cross-trade shipments from start to finish.
• Coordinate sea, air and road freight, including collections and deliveries.
• Prepare and manage export and customs documentation.
• Liaise with customers, overseas agents, carriers and suppliers.
• Monitor shipments and resolve operational issues.
• Maintain accurate shipment records and job costs using LBase.
• Negotiate competitive rates, manage invoicing and support profitability.
• Ensure compliance with export regulations and customs procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service and support business development.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain efficient operations.

The Ideal Candidate

• Minimum 3 years freight forwarding experience, ideally in export and cross-trade operations.
• Good knowledge of sea, air and road freight.
• Understanding of export documentation and customs procedures.
• Experience working with overseas agents, carriers and customers.
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Commercial awareness, including supplier rate negotiation and job costing.
• Good IT skills; LBase experience would be advantageous.
• A flexible, proactive and team-focused approach.
