Senior Innovation Developer

Lane Clark & Peacock

Senior Innovation Developer

We're looking for a Senior Innovation Developer to help teams across LCP work more efficiently. You'll work directly with stakeholders to understand their processes, identify opportunities and lead the development of practical solutions, from initial discovery through to rollout and ongoing improvement.

This is a hands-on development role with strong ownership of delivery. You'll combine AI coding agents and large language models (LLMs) with sound software engineering to build useful tools and automate workflows. Frontend development remains important, particularly thoughtful design and user experience, alongside enough backend knowledge to build and integrate complete solutions.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading discovery with teams across the business to understand current workflows and identifying where software or automation could save time, reduce manual work or improve quality
  • Prioritising opportunities with stakeholders, agree scope and success measures, and own delivery plans, dependencies and communication throughout each project
  • Building prototypes to test ideas with users, then develop promising solutions into applications and workflows that are ready for everyday use
  • Using AI coding agents effectively throughout development, with appropriate testing and review, and build LLM-powered features or agents where they solve a clear business need
  • Designing and developing intuitive interfaces, connect them to backend services and business systems, and collaborate with other developers on architecture and integrations
  • Considering data privacy, security, access controls and the reliability of AI outputs throughout delivery, working with relevant colleagues and applying human review where needed
  • Leading rollout and adoption, including user feedback, documentation and training
  • Maintaining solutions and measuring results against agreed goals, such as time saved, fewer errors and usage
  • Researching and testing new approaches, share useful findings, and support other developers through code review, mentoring and guidance on effective use of AI coding tools

What skills and experience are we looking for?

  • An experienced developer who can independently lead work from an initial business problem to a reliable, maintainable solution
  • Strong practical skills using AI coding agents to plan, implement, debug and test software
  • The ability to give agents clear context and direction, review their output critically and take responsibility for code quality
  • Good familiarity with LLMs and their practical use, including prompting, model APIs, retrieval and tool use; understanding their limitations and assessing output quality, reliability and cost
  • Strong design skills and an excellent understanding of user experience; you can turn complex workflows into clear, accessible interfaces and use feedback to improve them
  • A solid grounding in JavaScript or TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks
  • Experience with Vue.js is useful, alongside a willingness to learn the tools a project needs
  • Working knowledge of backend development, including APIs, databases, authentication and integrations; amking straightforward backend changes and working effectively with specialists on more complex requirements
  • Sound engineering practices, including version control, debugging, testing, code review and documentation, applied equally to code written by people and AI agents
  • Confidence speaking with stakeholders, asking questions and explaining technical choices clearly by translating business needs into an achievable scope, agreed priorities and putting success measures in place
  • The ability to manage your own workload, make decisions and keep delivery moving, involving colleagues when needed and delegating work appropriately
  • Curiosity about new technology, balanced with practical judgement about where AI, automation or simpler approaches will improve the way people work
