Senior Pricing Analyst

Laka

Hello, we're Laka

You might not have heard of us yet - that's OK, you've found us now - come and find out more about our journey...

Founded in 2017, Laka set out to transform insurance by connecting passionate cyclists to form a collective and protect their bikes for when things go wrong - a better model for insurance was born. For once people come first in insurance by fairly sharing the cost amongst each other. We exist to rewrite the rules of insurance so it’s something people stand with, not against.

Our model: Laka makes sure everything runs smoothly for The Collective - from exceptionally fast claims, splitting the cost fairly, guaranteeing a maximum price and all the other heavy lifting of a regulated insurance business. For that service, the collective pays Laka a fee relative to the claims in a month.

Take a closer look at exactly what this means and how it works here.

What have we been up to since then...?

In a nutshell, we've been very busy! Here are a few of the massive achievements we've had:

Raised $10.4 million at series B!

Grown the team to over 60 Lakanauts, based across the UK and NL, enabling a choice-based, remote-first way of working

Launched Laka in a total of 11 countries, essentially helping more people in more places!

Captured the UK and NL enthusiast cyclist market and expanded into commercial business partnering

Been awarded 'Best Cycle Insurance Provider' (for the past 8 years in a row - go us! )

Opened 3 shiny new offices in London, Bristol & Amsterdam to provide spaces for people to collaborate as they like

We've also achieved a 5* rating on Google Reviews and Glassdoor - go check us out!

Help us continue to change an outdated industry...

We’re growing real fast on our path to make the Laka collective model the industry standard and we’re expanding across segments, products, and territories. We’re looking for innovative, bold and brave minds to help us build the world’s best insurance company.

Pricing at Laka

Pricing our Collective is what makes Laka unique, so this role sits at the heart of what we do.

Each month, members pay their share of the Collective's claims and a fee for Laka's services, up to their own cap. A stop loss from our insurers picks up anything above the total of all caps. Pricing it well means keeping the Collective healthy while balancing the interests of our members, Laka and our insurance partners.

We have a fledgling pricing stack that we are looking to advance with your help.

The role

You'll own pricing across all five markets and both sides of our business. One side is cyclists who buy from us direct. The other is the partners who sell or bundle our cover, from bike brands and retailers to leasing companies and delivery fleets. It's a broad, hands-on role, working with our Pricing Analyst.

What you'll be getting up to:

  • Define and deliver pricing for our Collective in the UK and Europe: members' caps, rating factors and fees, based on claims frequency and severity by market and segment.
  • Price our partner business, from bike brands and retailers to leasing companies and fleets, and support our Commercial team on new deals and renewals.
  • Prepare rate reviews and pricing proposals for our insurance partners, and work with them on stop loss and capacity terms.
  • Develop our pricing stack, tools and processes with Engineering and Data.
  • Manage and develop our Pricing Analyst.

You'll be successful by:

  • Reviewing retail and partner pricing across all five markets in your first three months and agreeing priorities with us.
  • Taking the first cap and fee changes live, with proposals our insurers approve first time.
  • Taking our pricing stack to the next level within your first year.

Requirements

Sound like you?

  • This role will be a great fit if you:
    • Have 6+ years' experience in insurance pricing, with rate changes you've designed and taken live.
    • Ideally have priced both direct-to-consumer and partner or B2B business: deep in one, credible in the other.
    • Build pricing models in code: GLMs and GBMs in Python, with SQL.
    • Are sharp and commercially minded, balancing growth, retention and profitability.
    • Can explain technical work simply to partners, insurers and our leadership team.
    • Have managed or mentored an analyst and are happy to stay hands-on.
    • Already use AI tools like Claude and Claude Code, or are keen to make them core to how you work.
  • Plus points:
    • Actuarial exams (IFoA, AAG, DAV or Institut des Actuaires): welcome, but not required. We care most about what you've priced.
    • Dutch, German or French.
    • An interest in cycling.
