Personal Development & Wellbeing Mentor

East Sussex College Group

Are you passionate about supporting adults to overcome challenges, achieve their goals, and thrive in education? We are looking for a proactive, empathetic, and motivated individual to join our Wellbeing Team, working closely with our Adult Learning provision across the college.

In this rewarding role, you will manage a caseload of adult learners, providing flexible and personalised support to help remove barriers to learning, improve attendance, and maximise student success. You will work with learners enrolled on a range of programmes, including distance learning, English and Maths, and classroom-based courses across our Station Plaza and Ore Valley campuses.

As part of our dedicated Wellbeing Team, you will play a key role in identifying and supporting students who may be at risk of disengaging from their studies. Through early intervention and tailored support, you will help improve attendance, retention, achievement, and progression outcomes, while ensuring any safeguarding concerns are identified and responded to appropriately.

The role also offers the opportunity to contribute to the wider student experience. You may be involved in delivering group tutorial sessions, adapting personal development resources to meet the needs of adult learners, and supporting the planning and delivery of wellbeing initiatives and events throughout the academic year.

This exciting role will include:

  • Providing one-to-one support and guidance to adult learners.
  • Implementing interventions to improve student engagement, attendance, and achievement.
  • Identifying and escalating safeguarding concerns where required.
  • Supporting the delivery of tutorials and wellbeing-focused activities.
  • Contributing to college events and wellbeing campaigns.
  • Working flexibly across campuses and supporting learners studying both in person and remotely.

If you can demonstrate the following, then we’d love to hear from you:

  • Has experience of identifying individual needs and delivering effective support and interventions.
  • Is passionate about helping adults overcome barriers and achieve their learning goals.
  • Has a strong understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing, and mental health.
  • Can build positive relationships with a diverse range of learners.
  • Is organised, adaptable, and able to manage a varied caseload effectively.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
