Cleaning Assistant

About The Role

We are looking for a reliable Cleaner to join our Soft Services team. You will clean stations and internal and external areas, helping maintain a safe, welcoming environment for the client and those using the facilities.

Working alongside your team, you will carry out routine and deep cleaning, use specialist cleaning equipment and follow site-specific safety procedures.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Clean designated station areas, including floors, furniture, fixtures, glass and external spaces.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop and carry out spot cleaning to maintain agreed standards.
• Clean toilets and sanitary facilities, replenishing supplies as required.
• Empty and clean waste and recycling bins.
• Operate cleaning machinery safely, including equipment used for floor cleaning and deep cleaning.
• Use company-approved cleaning products in accordance with instructions and COSHH requirements.
• Support scheduled deep cleans and any associated driving duties.
• Follow site-specific risk assessments, method statements and safety briefings.
• Report defects, hazards, misuse or vandalism promptly to the Chargehand.
• Work professionally with colleagues and the client, maintaining high standards of customer service.
• Undertake additional cleaning duties as directed by the supervisor or manager.

Essential Skills And Requirements

• Previous cleaning experience.
• A valid driving licence.
• Knowledge of COSHH and safe cleaning practices.
• BICSc training or certification.
• Relevant cleaning machine training and rail awareness.
• Ability to meet the contract’s DBS requirements.
• Sufficient English communication skills to understand safety instructions and communicate with colleagues and the client.
• A reliable, proactive approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable

• Willingness to undertake full Personal Track Safety (PTS) training and the associated medical and drug and alcohol testing.
