THE ROLE

Leggwork is a recruitment business and is acting as an employment business for this vacancy. We are recruiting an experienced Highways Foreman to oversee works on a highways and civil engineering project.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising site operatives, coordinating daily activities and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard. We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills, a solid background in highways construction and the ability to keep works running smoothly on site.

Key Responsibilities

You will be expected to:

• Supervise and coordinate site operatives and subcontractors
• Oversee day-to-day highways and civil engineering works
• Ensure works are completed in line with project specifications and programme deadlines
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and site compliance
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials and equipment
• Monitor the quality of work and address any issues as they arise
• Liaise with site management, engineers and other contractors
• Deliver daily briefings and ensure site teams understand their tasks
• Identify and resolve on-site issues to minimise disruption and delays

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Proven experience as a Highways Foreman or in a similar supervisory role
• A strong background in highways and civil engineering works
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• The ability to organise site teams and manage workloads effectively
• A good understanding of health and safety procedures
• The right to work in the UK

Desirable

• Relevant SSSTS or SMSTS qualification
• CSCS card
• First Aid qualification
• Experience working on highways infrastructure projects
