The Role

We’re seeking talented graduates to join our Structural Engineering team. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to the design and delivery of a diverse range of building engineering projects, including residential developments, public buildings and commercial infrastructure.

You’ll be joining a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of design professionals, working with colleagues across architecture, fire, mechanical and electrical engineering. You’ll gain experience working with a variety of structural materials, including timber, steel and concrete, while developing your technical knowledge and understanding of sustainable structural design.

Your Impact In This Position

As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you’ll support the design and technical delivery of structural engineering projects, gaining hands-on experience across the project lifecycle from initial concepts through to detailed design and construction.

You’ll contribute to structural calculations and designs, support the production and review of BIM and CAD outputs, attend project meetings and take part in site visits. You’ll work closely with engineers and other disciplines to help ensure structural solutions meet project requirements and technical standards.

With guidance and mentoring from experienced engineers, you’ll develop your technical skills, problem-solving abilities and understanding of structural design, building the experience and confidence you need to work towards chartership and progress your career with Tetra Tech

Programme Highlights

• Central induction and ongoing support from your line manager and mentor

Your Pathway: You’ll be assigned a location, cost centre, line manager, and a ‘home’ technical discipline based on your qualifications and business needs. If you wish to explore a different discipline at the end of the programme, we’ll consider this based on your interests and business requirements.

Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Partnership

As part of the scheme, you’ll have access to the CMI Foundation Chartered Manager pathway through flexible, online Bite Size programs. Choose from a range of topics—including Managing Change, Leading in a Digital Age, Conflict Resolution, Project Management, and Data-Driven Decision Making—to build your leadership and management skills.

Each program consists of three concise modules (totalling 85-135 minutes), scheduled in your second year. Complete activity sheets to demonstrate your learning and earn your Foundation Chartered Manager certification.

Qualifications

Must have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a relevant degree in either Civil or Structural Engineering.

Following initial screening, shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete online psychometric testing designed to evaluate key competencies and problem-solving skills relevant to consultancy work. Those who progress beyond this stage will be invited to attend an in-person Graduate Day.
