The Role!

What is a Cover Supervisor?

A cover supervisor is responsible for supervising classes in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Their primary role is to ensure that students remain engaged in learning activities while following the teacher's lesson plan. Cover supervisors do not usually teach new content or provide subject-specific expertise. Instead, they maintain order in the classroom, oversee the completion of work assigned by the absent teacher, and provide support where needed.

Do you need formal teaching qualifications?

• No! While youll need strong communication and organizational skills, you dont necessarily need formal teaching qualifications to become a cover supervisor. This makes it an accessible entry point for those interested in working in education but not yet ready to commit to full-time teaching qualifications.

Experience, Training and Qualifications required for the Cover Supervisor position:

• Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
• Ideally hold a degree in a relevant subject area.
• A passion for working with children and young people.
• You will be proactive and adaptable, with lots of energy and enthusiasm.

To be eligible for the Cover Supervisor position through Refine Education you must:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered
