Our specialist opportunities include working with children and young people who may have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, additional SEND needs, have experienced disruption to their education, or require additional support to successfully engage with learning.

What we’re looking for

You’ll Ideally Have

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Experience working with children or young people in an education setting

A calm, consistent and compassionate approach

The ability to establish positive relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries

Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

An understanding of safeguarding and the additional vulnerabilities some young people may experience

The resilience and flexibility to adapt your approach to individual pupils

Experience within SEND, SEMH, Alternative Provision, PRU or specialist settings would be beneficial. We also welcome applications from experienced mainstream teachers whose skills, experience and approach may transfer well into specialist education.

The role

Depending On The Placement, You May

Plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons

Adapt teaching to individual learning and additional needs

Support pupils individually and in small groups

Build trusted and consistent relationships with young people

Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and engagement with education

Use positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies

Work closely with support staff and other professionals

Follow the setting and Ripple Education safeguarding procedures at all times
