A brief summary

Based within our global Media Services function, this role sits in the Assets & Data team and reports to the Head of Assets & Data. The Data Analyst helps the business make better use of its data, with a particular focus on S&OP, asset management and resource planning across the Group.

Using SQL, Power BI and Excel, the role will turn data from our Group systems into useful reporting and insight. A key part of the role is helping people understand what the data is telling us how our assets are being used, where demand is changing and where there may be opportunities to improve utilisation, reduce cost or make better investment decisions.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Write and maintain SQL queries to bring together and prepare data from Group business systems for analysis and reporting.
  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that help the business understand asset utilisation, demand, availability and performance.
  • Analyse asset, resource and demand planning data to spot trends, capacity issues, under utilisation and opportunities to improve efficiency or reduce cost.
  • Work with the Head of Assets & Data and teams across the business to understand the questions they are trying to answer and turn these into useful analysis and reporting.
  • Check and reconcile data before it is used in reporting, investigate anything that does not look right and work with the relevant data owners to resolve issues.
  • Support good data governance by helping to keep definitions, standards and quality checks consistent across asset and master data.
  • Keep clear, practical documentation for key reports, dashboards, calculations and recurring analysis so that others can understand how they work and pick them up when needed.
  • Work with IT where reporting depends on changes to systems, data access or integrations. The role will help define what the business needs from its data, with IT retaining responsibility for system architecture, security, access controls and technical infrastructure.
  • Work with the Head of Assets & Data and business teams to improve the information held in operational systems, including highlighting gaps, inconsistencies or unclear data ownership.
  • Provide regular and ad hoc analysis to support S&OP, asset planning, investment decisions, business cases and improvement activity across the Group.
  • Look for sensible ways to make reporting and analysis quicker and easier, including automation and appropriate use of AI tools, while making sure outputs are checked and company data is handled appropriately.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent practical experience, together with at least two years' experience in a data analyst, BI analyst or similar role.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and confidence using it to query, combine and manipulate data.
  • Experience building and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports, with a good understanding of data modelling, measures and how to present information clearly.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas and working with larger datasets.
  • Experience of cleaning and checking data, including dealing with duplicates, missing information and inconsistencies.
  • A good understanding of databases and data structures, with enough technical knowledge to work confidently with IT and system specialists.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. You should be interested in what sits behind the numbers and able to explain what the data means, rather than simply producing a report.
  • Able to work with stakeholders to understand what information they need and explain findings clearly to people who may not be data specialists.
  • Good attention to detail and a practical approach to keeping reports, calculations and supporting documentation organised and up to date.
  • Commercially aware, with an interest in how asset utilisation, demand, capacity and investment decisions affect the wider business.
  • Comfortable using AI and other productivity tools where they are useful, while checking outputs and following company requirements around data security.
  • Able to manage priorities, work well with colleagues across different teams and countries, and respond calmly when something is time sensitive.
