Woodhayes: Our lovely home in Exeter, Woodhayes is looking for a Registered General Nurse.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toileting
- To assess and identify training needs of care staff and report to The Care Home Manager, and assist with training programmes, and assist with induction of staff
- To report any personnel problems to The Care Home Manager
- To keep good nursing records and documentation for procedures and administration as require
- To encourage and supervise the provision of daily activities for residents’ according to their assessment and plan of care
- To supervise and assist care staff and ancillary staff to ensure good hygiene practice and presentation of the home, including for example in: making and changing of beds; tidy rooms, keeping everything clean , inspection of and laundering and mending residents' clothing, setting tables and trays; serving meals; feeding residents who need help, prepare meals and wash up, tidy and clean the communal rooms
- To maintain good liaison with all who work at the home and who come into contact with the home and to generally promote the home’s interests with all
- Attend staff meetings as arranged by the Care Home Manager
- Ensure minimum waste and maintain good stock control and instruct staff in use of machinery and equipment relevant to their area of work
- To continually monitor and ensure good presentation of the home at all times, reporting any problems to the Care Home Manager immediately they are identified
- To be familiar with procedures for selling rooms, dealing with enquiries and recording this information and actively assist The Care Home Manager to achieve high occupancy
- Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence; help in the use aids, care of aids and personal equipment
- Care for residents temporarily sick and needing, for example; dressings, bed nursing
- Help care for residents who are dying
- Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, arranging trips out, sharing with them in activities: such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreation
- Answer emergency bells, the door and the telephone; greet visitors
- Read and write reports; take part in care team and residents' meetings and in training activities as directed
- Such other duties as may reasonably be required

- The RGN (Social Care) may be instructed by the care manager to be the responsible person-in-charge on any work shift.
Person Specification - Skills And Qualifications
- Previous experience in a care home, hospital, or similar kitchen environment is desirable but not essential
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
- Good communication skills with a professional and respectful approach to colleagues and residents
- Compassionate and patient nature, with a genuine interest in improving the lives of older or vulnerable people
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and carry out manual handling and cleaning tasks
- A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to learn and adapt to changing needs
Rate of pay: £25.90 per hour.
