About The Role

The Investment & M&A Advisory team supports investors, lenders and energy companies in making confident investment decisions across the energy value chain. Working on acquisitions, divestments and project financing transactions, we combine deep technical expertise with commercial insight to deliver due diligence services across renewable energy, conventional power, oil & gas and emerging energy transition technologies.

As investment in energy infrastructure continues to accelerate, the demand for independent technical advice has never been greater. The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Engagement Manager / Principal Consultant to lead and deliver technical due diligence projects supporting major investment and financing decisions across the energy sector.

Working directly with investors, lenders and energy companies, you will manage multidisciplinary project teams and provide strategic insights that influence high-value transactions. The role offers exposure to a broad range of technologies and markets, combining your technical expertise, commercial awareness and project leadership across established infrastructure and emerging energy transition solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

No two projects are the same. You will lead or contribute to technical due diligence engagements, helping clients evaluate assets, identify opportunities and risks, and make informed investment decisions.

Working alongside technical specialists from across DNV's global business, you will:

  • Manage and deliver technical due diligence and advisory projects for investors, lenders and energy companies
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard
  • Analyse technical, operational, environmental and commercial information to develop clear conclusions and recommendations
  • Present findings and strategic insights to senior client stakeholders through reports, presentations and workshops
  • Build and maintain client relationships, identifying new opportunities and contributing to proposals, business development and market engagement activities.

This role can be based at any of our UK or Ireland offices, with flexibility to work under our hybrid working model. Travel will be required to support client engagements, project delivery and internal collaboration.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • Significant consultancy experience within the energy sector
  • Technical due diligence, transaction advisory or M&A experience gained across the energy value chain
  • Experience managing consultancy, advisory or due diligence projects
  • A degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to a wide range of audiences.

You Will Also Be Able To Demonstrate

  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to generate practical insights and recommendations
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes to tight deadlines
  • Experience supporting, coaching or mentoring colleagues
  • Commercial awareness, with the ability to engage confidently with senior client stakeholders and identify new business opportunities.

Experience within the biogas, biomethane or data centre sectors would be advantageous.
