Electronics Technician
Haas F1 Team
As our Electronics Technician, you will support the manufacture, maintenance, and testing of electronic assemblies, wiring harnesses, and sensors that contribute to the operation and development of TGR Haas F1 Team's race and test cars.
Reporting to the Electronics Operations Manager, you will work within the Electronics department to manufacture and test a range of electronic components and assemblies, support race and test car builds, and help maintain workshop equipment, tooling, and stock. Working closely with engineers and technicians across the business, you will contribute to the delivery of reliable electronic systems within a fast-paced Formula 1 environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Electronics Manufacturing & Assembly
- Manufacture wiring harnesses, sensors, and electronic assemblies for use on and off the car.
- Carry out maintenance and testing activities on harnesses, sensors, and electronic assemblies.
- Support the factory race and test car build process, ensuring electronic units, sensors, and harnesses are fitted correctly.
- Raise faults and highlight quality concerns identified during manufacturing and build activities.
Testing & Validation
- Follow procedures provided by System Engineers to calibrate and test sensors and electronic assemblies, both on-car and at the factory.
- Take ownership of in-house Cirris harness testing activities.
- Assist with the development and implementation of in-house test rigs and equipment.
- Support the verification and testing of electronic components and assemblies.
Workshop Support
- Assist with the day-to-day management of the electronics workshop.
- Help ensure tooling, test equipment, and stock are maintained and available for operational requirements.
- Support the maintenance of a safe and organised working environment.
- Contribute to the effective operation of workshop processes and activities.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Support the Electronics Design Engineer with feedback relating to the design and installation of chassis wiring and sensors.
- Contribute to the definition of installation practices, manufacturing standards, operational processes, and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across engineering and production functions.
- Support continuous improvement activities within the Electronics department.
What You Bring
- GCSE, High School Diploma, or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience working within a high-level motorsport environment.
- Electronics training to HNC level or equivalent is desirable.
- Experience in motorsport harness manufacture and soldering techniques.
- Knowledge of racing car electrical and electronic systems.
- Experience working with Raychem System 25 and motorsport or aerospace connectors.
- Ability to interpret and follow technical procedures and instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to remain focused and effective within a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative approach and willingness to support team objectives.
Desirable Experience
- Experience using Cirris test equipment.
- Manual PCB loading and fine-pitch soldering.
- Electrical wiring of enclosures, panels, test boxes, and rigs.
- Electro-mechanical assembly manufacture.
- Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
