Our vision is for Calderdale to be an enterprising place, full of opportunity. We are looking for someone to join us in helping realise this ambition. Working within our Regeneration and Strategy directorate you will play a key role shaping and influencing Calderdale’s economic future.
About the role
You’ll play a central role in ensuring Calderdale makes the most of regional opportunities—particularly through the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) and the evolving devolution agenda. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading regional policy coordination, ensuring Calderdale is well positioned within regional programmes
- Translating national and regional policy into local action, identifying and securing funding opportunities
- Horizon scanning and programme development to keep Calderdale ahead of emerging agendas
- Supporting fund management and oversight, including Gainshare and the transition to Integrated Settlement
- Building strong partnerships to ensure Calderdale’s priorities are championed regionally
Devolution is reshaping how decisions are made—and you’ll help ensure the borough punches above its weight. For the right candidate it’s a great opportunity to diversify your expertise.
We’re looking for someone who is
- Experienced in programme and policy work, ideally within economic development or regeneration
- Able to interpret complex policy and turn it into practical briefings
- A strong communicator and collaborator, comfortable working across organisations and sectors
- Analytical and forward-thinking, with the ability to spot opportunities early
- Proactive, curious and solutions-focused, with the energy to drive work forward
Most importantly, you’ll care about making a difference—and thrive in a team that does too.
