About The Role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Document Controller to join our Power Transmission & Distribution business, supporting the delivery of the Tod Point Substation project in Redcar, Cleveland.
Working on one of our key power infrastructure projects, you will play a vital role in managing both
Design and Operational Document Control, ensuring project information is accurately controlled, maintained and distributed throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing information within project Common Data Environments (CDEs), supporting project teams, designers, subcontractors and clients to ensure information is available, accessible and compliant with project requirements. This is a site-based role, and candidates should ideally be located within a reasonable commuting distance of Tod Point Substation.
What you'll be doing
- Manage the project's Common Data Environment (CDE), including BIM 360 Docs, SharePoint and client document management systems.
- Ensure all project documentation is accurately controlled, maintained and distributed in line with project procedures.
- Establish and maintain document workflows, registers and information governance processes.
- Manage both design and operational documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support project teams in the preparation, submission and management of project information and deliverables.
- Review, accept and distribute information exchanges within the CDE, ensuring compliance with agreed processes and procedures.
- Assist with project setup activities within BIM 360, including folder structures, permissions and workflows.
- Maintain and manage the Operational Master Document Register, ensuring records remain current and accurate.
- Produce reports and support project audits relating to document control and information management activities.
- Print and issue construction drawings and project documentation where required.
- Work closely with engineering, operational, commercial and project management teams to ensure the effective flow of information.
- Support training and guidance for project stakeholders on document control processes and systems.
- Promote collaborative working and best practice in information management across the project.
Who we're looking for
Essential
- Previous experience in a Document Controller or Document Management role within a project-based environment.
- Strong understanding of document control principles, processes and governance.
- Experience managing controlled documentation and maintaining document registers.
- Excellent organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently whilst supporting a multidisciplinary project team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and document management systems.
Desirable
- Experience within the Power, Utilities, Construction, Engineering or Infrastructure sectors.
- Experience using BIM 360 Docs or similar Common Data Environment platforms.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction documentation processes.
- Understanding of BIM processes and information management principles.
- Awareness of BS1192 and ISO 19650 standards.
- Experience working on site-based infrastructure projects.
