Brewer Morris is delighted to be partnering with a highly successful international consultancy on the appointment of a Financial Controller for its expanding finance function. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in leading the financial control environment across a complex international group. Managing a team of five finance professionals, this individual will have responsibility for group reporting, financial governance, operational finance, tax and treasury activities, while acting as a key business partner to senior stakeholders across the organisation. This role offers significant exposure, leadership responsibility and the opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives as the business continues its growth journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and mentor a team of five finance professionals
- Oversee the preparation of consolidated group financial statements
- Drive a robust financial control environment and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
- Manage the month-end close process and financial performance reporting
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and oversee payroll controls
- Act as the primary contact for external auditors and support the annual audit process
- Oversee tax compliance, including VAT and other indirect tax obligations
- Manage cash flow, liquidity and treasury activities across the group
- Ensure efficient delivery of operational finance processes, including AP, AR, billing and cash collection
- Partner closely with FP&A, commercial and operational teams to support business objectives
- Support system improvements, process optimisation and finance transformation initiatives
- Assist with M&A activity, including financial due diligence and integration projects
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation and externally with advisers and banking partners
- Drive continuous improvement and best practice across the finance function
Skills & Experience Required
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA (or equivalent) qualified accountant
- Significant post-qualified experience within a financial control or finance leadership position
- Previous experience managing and developing finance teams
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
- Experience preparing consolidated group accounts
- Strong understanding of UK statutory reporting requirements
- Experience operating within a complex, international or multi-entity environment
- Knowledge of tax, treasury and wider operational finance processes
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on delivery
- Experience of finance systems implementation, process improvement or transformation projects is advantageous
- NetSuite experience would be beneficial but is not essential
