Advert for Talking Therapies High Intensity Counsellor- Band 6/7

NHS Enfield Talking Therapies Service is provided by the North London NHS Trust (NLFT). We provide psychological / psychotherapeutic services to all residents over the age of 18 within our borough.

The postholder will deliver brief focussed counselling to service users presenting with depression. Applicants must have experience of working with diverse patient populations, and within a primary care setting.

We are a large, well established and friendly team of CBT therapists, counsellors, administrators and employment support workers. You will have access to training opportunities and supervision from experienced senior staff. We are committed to staff wellbeing and career progression, for which we have an excellent track record.

Applicants must meet accreditation requirements as outlined in the job description (or demonstrate that applications have been submitted to the relevant professional body). Applicants who have completed a Talking Therapies modality qualification (CFD, CTFD, DIT, IPT) will be offered a band 7 position; applicants who are not in possession of the same will be offered the post at band 6 and will be supported to get onto an NHSE training within one of the above modalities.

Applicants must offer a minimum of 30 hours across 4 days (including a Wednesday), deliver clinical appointments on site for at least 2 days a week and work an evening shift up to 8pm on either Tuesday or Thursday.

Job Summary

  • To provide a time-limited counselling service to Step 3 clients of the Enfield Talking Therapies Service.
  • To offer advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to staff from other agencies involved in providing care.
  • To work to a pattern of clinical hours and in localities that support the needs of the service and local population.
  • To liaise with local mental health-based services and voluntary community agencies.
  • To monitor and audit evidence-based practice.
  • To contribute to policy and service development within the team and the area served by the team/service.
  • To work within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.
