We are seeking an experienced and motivated medical professional to join our team as a Medical Examiner at University College London Hospitals (UCLH). The ideal candidate will be resilient, clinically credible, possess integrity, and have strong communication skills to engage effectively with a diverse range of people.
The postholder will be part of a team of Medical Examiners based at UCLH, which includes scrutinising all inpatient deaths at UCLH, the Royal Marsden Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), Moorfields Eye Hospital, and Camden Community. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and independent review of patients' deaths and the proper completion of death certification processes. It presents a unique opportunity to ensure compliance with national guidelines while supporting bereaved families during challenging times.
You will collaborate closely with clinicians and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality services.
Scrutinise certified causes of death to ensure compliance with national protocols and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including coroners, healthcare providers, and faith leaders.
- Conduct sensitive discussions with bereaved families to explain the causes of death and address concerns.
- Participate in clinical governance, audits, and training to improve death certification processes and patient safety
