Job Overview

The Senior Nurse for Digital ePMA is a clinical informatics leadership role supporting the implementation and optimisation of electronic prescribing systems across the Health Board. The post holder will act as a key link between clinical teams and digital services, ensuring safe, effective and user-centred deployment of ePMA.

The role includes clinical engagement, system optimisation, training, and contribution to clinical safety and governance processes. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the post holder will support adoption, improve patient safety, and enhance medicines management through digital solutions.

Main duties of the job

This Role Will

  • Provide specialist knowledge and experience, inclusive of digital skills, to support the development, configuration, maintenance and ongoing optimisation of the ePMA system, ensuring adherence to the patient safety and information standards of NHS Wales and the Health Board.
  • Use nursing experience and knowledge to contribute to the design of the new ways of working associated with ePMA and other related systems to ensure maximum levels of safety and quality.
  • Develop and deliver specialist training to the workforce who will interact with the ePMA system, inclusive of providing system demonstrations and communicate the safe and effective use of ePMA and other supporting systems.
  • Be a visible leader in the use of digital services and promote the professional nursing agenda relating to medicine safety and excellence in practice.
  • Ensure policies, procedures and guidelines are written and ratified prior to system implementations and remain valid and appropriate throughout product delivery, reviewing and updating when required.

Qualifications And Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife
  • NMC registration
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Leadership development
  • Evidence of on-going, relevant CPD
  • Knowledge and understanding of clinical audit, effective research processes and application
  • Extensive knowledge and appreciation of national policies and standards
  • Evidence of highly developed specialist nursing knowledge which has been underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant experience
